CWC 2019: Junaid Khan protests his World Cup axe with a 'sach karwa hotha hai' tweet

Wahab Riaz who has not played a single ODI since 2017 was picked ahead of Junaid Khan.

The Pakistani team touring England was unable to win a single match in the five-match ODI series as they lost 4-0 against the top ranked English side after the series opener at The Oval was washed away.

The inexperienced Pakistani bowling attack was hit for plenty as they gave away over 1400 runs in 4 ODIs. This poor performance forced Pakistan’s chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq to make some changes to the preliminary World Cup squad that was announced a month back. These changes meant Junaid Khan, Abid Ali and Faheem Ashraf lost their World Cup spots to the “vastly experienced” Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir and Asif Ali.

Junaid Khan, the left-arm pacer played two ODIs against England in which he picked only two wickets and gave away runs at an economy of 7.88 on the flat English wickets. He was also the most expensive bowler from the Pakistani side as he gave away 85 runs in his quota of 10 overs in the fourth ODI.

The 33-year Riaz on the other hand has not played a single ODI after the match against India in ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. To make his selection more questionable, the 33-year-old has only four scalps to his name in seven matches played on English soil at an unsatisfactory average of 96.25.

Thus, to protest his World Cup axe, the 29-year-old Junaid Khan took a dig at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as he tweeted a photo of himself with his lips covered with a black tape in protest.

Here is the Tweet from Junaid Khan, which he has now deleted:
