The charismatic all-rounder Dwayne Bravo backed West Indies to have a good chance at the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, saying the Caribbean side can extend their hopes to lift the third prestigious title with the youngsters coming up so well through the ranks.

On Friday (December 7), Bravo, who recently retired from international cricket in October, also backed tenth-ranked Afghanistan, saying they have potential chances to win the showpiece event in England.

Bravo stated on Friday, “It’s a young team. It’s a very young team, and the likes of Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels will be the senior players. Although the team hasn’t been selected yet I think they both will be there. Jason Holder, the captain [is also there].”

At the moment, Windies placed ninth in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings, had to qualify to be part of the next World Cup that they won in 1975 and 1979, and might not be labelled as favourites in the tournament, but Bravo feels that the young talent can make their chances in England.

He continued, “With those, young talents like Shai Hope, Hetmyer … they have a lot of talent and they showed that in the short time that they have been playing. It’s just a matter of nurturing those talents. They have a chance. Everybody has a chance going into the World Cup. Even Afghanistan!”

Commenting on Afghanistan, Bravo signed off by saying, “I think their cricket has got to a different level. It’s going to be an exciting World Cup as always and everybody has a chance to win it. But those young players will definitely set the stage afire.”
