
Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan shared a video of himself dancing on Bollywood hit ‘Afghan Jalebi’ after Afghanistan defeated England in the Champions Trophy 2025 Group B match on Wednesday, February 26.
It was a must-win situation for both sides. Afghanistan's semifinal chances were kept alive by the positive result, while England suffered an ugly group-stage departure.
Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first in their Group B match against England. Ibrahim Zadran stole the stage with his batting prowess, hitting 177 runs off 146 deliveries. He recorded the greatest individual score in Champions Trophy history. Afghanistan scored 325/7 from 50 overs.
England fought valiantly in the run chase, with star batter Joe Root scoring an impressive century. He scored 120 runs off 111 deliveries, although in a losing cause. They were bowled out for 317, with Azmatullah Omarzai taking five wickets.
Afghanistan are currently placed third in the Group B points table. They will face Australia in their final group match. A victory in the clash will take them into the 2025 Champions Trophy semifinals. The crucial encounter will be played on February 28.
In celebration of the Afghanistan win, Irfan Pathan shared a video on his Instagram, dancing to ‘Afghan Jalebi’ song. He captioned the post: "Another ICC win against England from Afghanistan. Well done."
Afghanistan star spinner Rashid Khan reacted to Irfan Pathan’s post and stated: "Bhai jan mere baghair dance haha [Brother you are dancing without me haha] thank you bhai for always support and love."
