Virat Kohli began the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 with a second innings hundred (100*) at Perth, but he has amassed only 67 runs in his other six innings combined so far.
The age-old problem of fishing outside the off stump has led to Kohli’s downfall and it came back to haunt him on Day 5 of the Boxing Day Test at MCG.
The Indian stalwart chased a wide delivery from Mitchell Starc and perished for just 5 runs. He got a thick outside edge which flew to Usman Khawaja at first slip.
Kohli’s pattern of dismissal was same in the first innings of Melbourne Test as well. While the star batter was disciplined in his approach for the most part of his 36-run knock off 86 balls, he ultimately fell to a delivery that was on the fifth-sixth stump line by Scott Boland.
