Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped a regulation catch at gully to give Marnus Labuschagne a lifeline on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at the MCG.
Labuschagne was batting on 46 when he opened his bat face to guide a delivery from Akash Deep straight to gully. It was almost like a catching practice but Jaiswal could not hang on, leaving the Indian captain Rohit Sharma furious.
In a video doing rounds on social media, Rohit was seen losing his cool after Jaiswal made a mess of an easy catch.
The incident unfolded on the second delivery of the 40th over of Australia’s second innings. Labuschagne made the most of the reprieve and went on to score a half-century. He was eventually dismissed by Mohammed Siraj for 70 in the 56th over.
Labuschagne added 57 runs for the seventh wicket with skipper Pat Cummins, helping the hosts extend their lead to 253 runs.
