Virat Kohli, veteran India cricketer, was heard giving strict instructions to pacer Mohammed Siraj to not talk while laughing with the Australia batters. This happened during day 1 of the 4th BGT 2024 Test in Melbourne.
The altercation came when Siraj and Labuschagne engaged in a mid-field conversation that Kohli felt was too friendly for the intense Test match environment. There were other tactical highlights from the Indian camp besides Kohli's furious approach.
Caught on the stump microphones, Kohli was heard telling pacer Mohammed Siraj, "Has ke baat nahi karna inse (Don't smile while talking to them)," after Siraj exchanged words with Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne.
Skipper Rohit Sharma was also heard instructing spinner Ravindra Jadeja to make the most of the surface.
"Jaddu, ball bounce bhi ho raha hai, turn bhi ho raha hai,” Rohit remarked.
Australia opted to bat first at MCG and scored 311/6 on day one of the match, thanks to half-centuries from Sam Konstas (60), Usman Khawaja (57), Marnus Labuschagne (72) and Steve Smith (68*). For India, Bumrah took 3/75 and was the best bowler of his side.
