India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has discarded all reports of him not playing in the third BGT 2024 Test against Australia in Brisbane amidst injury concerns. He did so by bowling full tilt in nets in a grueling 30-minute session.
During the recent pink-ball Test in Adelaide, Jasprit Bumrah had shown concerns when he had to consult physios on the field due to a groin injury that led to fears amongst Indian fans and fraternity that the ace pacer might miss the important third Test in Brisbane.
However, those rumors were laid to rest as Jasprit Bumrah got through a grueling 30 minutes of intense bowling session in India nets in Brisbane. The tourists' strike weapon bowled without discomfort in the nets, his first stint since the end of the Adelaide Test on Sunday.
The 31-year-old has been India's greatest bowler this summer, with his performance in Perth being the best by any touring quick in Australia in decades.
He has 12 wickets at 11.25 for the series, including three from Nathan McSweeney and two each from Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja. Bumrah's fitness is one of several major challenges for India ahead of the first day on Saturday, with the five-Test series at 1-1.
On the other hand, India captain Rohit Sharma hinted at reclaiming his place at the top of the order as he faced the new ball in the nets. Rohit batted at no.6 on his return to the India XI in Adelaide but made single-digit scores in both innings.
KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal started in the nets, while Sharma received slips training before replacing Rahul. He faced Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep with the new ball, which he did not do before the second Test in Adelaide.
Rahul returned to the nets later in the session, facing a new ball alongside fellow middle-order batsman Virat Kohli.
