The first session of the second day’s play in the ongoing pink-ball Test between Australia and India in Adelaide saw a controversial moment as the visitors lose a review for not fault of theirs.
The incident unfolded during the 58th over of Australia’s first innings. India skipper Rohit Sharma opted for DRS after veteran off-spinner R Ashwin expressed confidence that his delivery has hit Mitchell Marsh’s pad first.
Marsh's bat and pads were closer together at the point of contact, leaving the third umpire Richard Kettleborough confused during the review process.
In fact, Kettleborough was heard saying on the coverage, “No conclusive evidence to say whether that is bat or pad first with the evidence I have got.”
The TV umpire didn’t even go for ball-tracking as he saw a spike on Snicko and gave it not out. The on-air commentators were left baffled as to why there was no ball-tracking shown.
Anyways, the original decision would have been upheld as impact is ump's call which is not out. However, the contentious part was India losing a review for no fault of theirs. The Indian camp was left frustrated as Rohit and Ashwin were seen having a chat with on-field umpire Richard Illingworth as well.

Coming to the match, Australia resumed their innings at 86/1 on the second day and reached 191/4 at Tea break, with Travis Head (53*) and Mitchell Marsh (2*) unbeaten in the middle.
Jasprit Bumrah was the stand-out bowler for India, claiming three wickets by conceding 23 runs in his 15 overs.
