Shubman Gill had suffered a thumb injury and missed the first Test in Perth.

Shubman Gill | BCCIShubman Gill provided an update on his thumb injury as the Indian team prepares for the two-day game against PM XI in Canberra. The day/night pink ball game will be India’s chance to prep for the second BGT 2024 Test against Australia that will be played in Adelaide, also with pink ball.

Shubman Gill had missed the first Test in Perth after he suffered a hit to his thumb during slip-catching practice ahead of the match.

But now, he returned to nets in Canberra, increasing the chances of him playing in the second Test in Adelaide.

Speaking in a BCCI video, Shubman Gill talked about his injury and provided an update.

He said: "Any ball when it hits the bat, especially in the middle of the bat. The feeling that you get, that's the feeling that I play for. When I got to know about my injury, for the first couple of days, I was quite low, a bit disappointed.”

Gill expressed sadness about missing the Perth match, the lone venue in Australia where he had yet to play. He did, however, express his satisfaction with the team's overwhelming performance, which saw India outplay the hosts and win by 295 runs.

"Perth is the only venue where I haven't played. When we came the last time, I was looking forward to playing there, and it's such an iconic venue. But the way we played that game, and by the end of it, I was very happy with the way that we played and we won the game," he added.

"But it was my first day. I was just trying to get a feel, to be honest, see how the injury is reacting. If there is any kind of jarness or any kind of soreness with me playing. But it actually went much better than I expected and Kamlesh bhai expected and I'm very happy with that," Gill further said.

The top-order batter was seen facing Yash Dayal and Akash Deep in the nets.
