BAN v IND 2022: “I don't think about landmarks,” says Rishabh Pant after missing out on century in 2nd Test

The wicketkeeper-batter scored 93 in India's first innings in the ongoing second Test.

When the visitors were struggling at 94/4, the wicketkeeper-batter added 159 runs for the fifth wicket with Shreyas Iyer (87), helping his team pile up 314/10 in the first innings and take a significant lead of 87 runs.

Just when it seemed that Pant will notch up his sixth Test century, he perished on 93 off 105 balls. His knock was studded with 7 boundaries and 5 sixes.

However, the southpaw is not bothered about not getting a three-figure mark as he was more focused on helping India make a comeback in the match.

“As an individual, I was fine because I knew I was doing well. I thought I could capitalise but didn't because I missed the hundred. But Shreyas and I got the team out of trouble, which was important,” Pant was quoted as saying ahead of the third day’s play.

“It just happens, I don't think about landmarks. For me, having an impact and helping your team is what matters. If it (the hundred) happens, it happens,” he added.

Pant also shared his views on the pitch served at the Shere Bangla National Stadium for the ongoing second Test.

“This is slower but otherwise it is similar to Chattogram,” he stated.

Coming to the Test match, Bangladeshi openers negotiated tricky six overs of play in the final session on Day 2 and scored 7 runs from it. However, India managed to take four wickets in the morning session on Day 3 and reduced the hosts to 71/4 at Lunch break.
