Indian skipper Rohit Sharma showed great courage by batting with a dislocated thumb in the second ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Wednesday (December 7).
Rohit Sharma injured his thumb while taking a catch in Bangladesh's innings, and he had to miss the majority of the game while he went to a hospital in Dhaka for a scan, which revealed there was a dislocation of the thumb.
Batting at No. 9, Rohit played a quick knock of 28 balls off 51* runs laced with 5 sixes and 3 fours, but Team India fell 5 runs short of the target against Bangladesh, as the hosts clinched the ODI series by taking a 2-0 lead with the third and final ODI set to be played on December 10.
Rohit has been widely hailed by the cricket fraternity for coming back to the field with the bat when Team India was in danger.
He batted through pain and discomfort and almost took India over the line, but he could not hit a six on the final ball, and they lost the second ODI by 5 runs against the Tigers.
Meanwhile, Rohit’s wife, Ritika, shared a heartfelt post on Instagram for her better half. Acknowledging his efforts with the bat, Ritika said he is proud of the Indian skipper for showing courage in her Instagram story.
She shared a screenshot of Rohit coming out to bat with stitches on his hand and captioned it: “I love you and I’m so proud of the man you are to get out like that and do that (emotional emoji).”
