The Indian cricket team is facing a big injury scare on the Bangladesh tour, as skipper Rohit Sharma is in line to miss the third and final ODI after hurting his thumb while fielding in the second ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Wednesday (September 7).

According to PTI, Rohit is likely to miss the third ODI against Bangladesh, to be played in Chattogram on December 10, and will have to race against the clock to get fit for the first Test, starting in Chattogram on December 14, following a thumb injury.

Notably, the Indian captain split the webbing between his left thumb and index finger while traying to catch Anamul Haque off Mohammed Siraj in the second over of Bangladesh's innings. It left the right-hander’s hand bloodied, and he did not take the field again in the second ODI on Wednesday, though he came out to bat at the fall of India's seventh wicket.

The team physio eventually escorted Rohit off the field. After having multiple stitches applied to the affected area at a Dhaka hospital, Rohit went for a scan. Now, it is being said that some further scans will be required to ascertain if there is a fracture.

His left thumb was heavily bandaged and had stitches when he finished the scan and returned to the ground. Even if the stitches are opened within a week, the Indian skipper wouldn't be able to train before the start of the first Test against Bangladesh.
