Team India might have dealt with a huge blow in the ongoing second ODI against Bangladesh at Dhaka as their skipper Rohit Sharma went off the field after being hit on his thumb.
Rohit took the blow in the second over of Bangladesh’s innings while attempting to take Anamul Haque’s catch at the second slip off Mohammed Siraj’s bowling.
While the Indian captain failed to grab the catch, he also hurt himself in the process and went off the field.
Taking to Twitter, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided an update on Rohit Sharma’s injury.
“India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He has now gone for scans,” the board tweeted.
In Rohit’s absence, KL Rahul is operating as captain in the second ODI, which is a must-win game for the Indian team.
Notably, the Men in Blue lost the opening ODI by one wicket and conceded a 1-0 lead to Bangladesh in the three-match series.
