Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif blamed the batters for Team India’s 1-wicket defeat against Bangladesh in the three-match ODI series opener in Dhaka on Sunday (December 4). He also issued a warning about the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s form with the bat.
The former batter further mentioned that Rohit has been struggling for runs ever since he took India’s captaincy in all three formats of the game, which is not really a good sign for the Indian cricket team.
Speaking on the Sony Sports Network, Mohammad Kaif said: “You have to bat well. We are talking a lot about the bowling, they batted badly. We lost the match because of batting.”
He added, “We need runs from Virat Kohli. We need runs from Rohit Sharma the captain. Rohit Sharma has not been in form as a captain, he has not been able to score regularly.”

Meanwhile, Kaif advised Team India to back Kuldeep Sen for the remaining two ODIs of the series in Bangladesh. Notably, Kuldeep claimed two wickets while conceding 37 runs in 5 overs on his debut.
Explaining why the young pacer needs backing, the former cricketer noted: “If they make changes, there will be commotion. If you played any young player, Kuldeep Sen should play all three matches. If you have backed someone and you change that decision because you lost the match, I believe you are not a good captain or coach.”
Kaif signed off by saying, “Kuldeep Sen was given the cap, it was not his mistake, but the cap is being distributed a lot. He picked up two wickets but proved a little expensive. Overall, I will want you to play him. He has pace, he couldn’t bowl well under pressure today but you have to back him.”
