The Asia Cup 2025 Trophy drama continues as the victorious team, India, has yet to receive the silverware, which, according to reports, is still in the possession of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

India declined to accept the trophy from Pakistan's Interior Minister Naqvi after defeating the Men in Green in the Asia Cup 2025 final on Sunday in Dubai.

The post-match presentation ceremony was delayed by an hour, but India stood firm, forcing a humiliated Naqvi to leave the stadium without recognizing the winning team. However, in his rage, Naqvi raced away with the trophy and medals. According to reports, the Asia Cup trophy and individual winners' medals remain at Naqvi's hotel in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Dainik Jagran reporter Abhishek Tripathi reports that the BCCI is working with other Asian cricket bodies to return the trophy to the country.

Naqvi has been requested to send the Asia Cup trophy to the ACC office at Dubai Sports City, from which it would be transported to India. However, Naqvi has not responded yet.

The Asia Cup 2025 Trophy drama will spill over to the ACC meeting, which will be held in Dubai on Tuesday (30 September) at 2 p.m. local time (3.30 p.m. IST), Cricbuzz said.

The ACC meeting will be convened to finalize the remaining affairs that were not completed during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Dhaka on July 24. However, the summit could turn into a struggle between India and Pakistan, with Asia Cup trophy negotiations anticipated to dominate the proceedings.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also anticipated to make a formal complaint against Naqvi at the ICC convention in November.

The report also stated that Naqvi was given multiple options by the ACC and Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) during the presentation ceremony to ease the tension. They recommended that ECB chairman Khalid Al Zarooni and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam honour Team India, while Naqvi hand over the medals to Pakistan players, but the PCB chief rejected the idea.

Naqvi insisted that as ACC chairman, it was his right to hand over the winners’ trophy.
