India and Sri Lanka clashed in the final Super Fours match on September 26, 2025, in Dubai. India had already qualified for the Asia Cup final, where they will clash with Pakistan on Sunday, September 28. On the other hand, Sri Lanka was eliminated from the race after losing their first two matches.
India was asked to bat first by Sri Lanka, who won the toss. Abhishek Sharma continued his amazing form, scoring 61 in 31 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes, while Tilak Varma made 49* in 34 balls with four fours and one six, and Sanju Samson made 39 in 23 balls with one four and 3 sixes. India posted 202/5 in 20 overs.
Sri Lanka’s response was explosive, despite losing Kusal Mendis early. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera hammered the Indian bowlers to all parts of the Dubai stadium, adding 127 runs for the second wicket. Kusal Perera made 58 in 32 balls with 8 fours and one six.
However, it was Pathum Nissanka, who slammed his maiden T20I ton, scoring 107 in 58 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes, and with Dasun Shanaka’s 22*, took Sri Lanka near a win. However, an excellent 19th over by Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana’s brilliant final over, India managed to tie the game against Sri Lanka.

Arshdeep Singh bowled the super over for India, and it was a masterclass in death overs bowling. He dismissed Kusal Perera on the first ball and conceded only two runs in the over. There was a lot of drama on the fourth ball, as Dasun Shanaka’s wild slog on the off-side led to an appeal for caught behind by the Indians. The on-field umpire gave him out, and, in the meantime, Shanaka went for a run and got run out as well.
But as with the DRS, the first decision stands, and Shanaka wasn’t given out run out. However, the review also gave Shanaka not out, as there was no contact between the bat and the ball. However, Shanaka got caught out on the next ball.
India needed three runs to win the match, and Suryakumar Yadav won the match on the first ball bowled by Wanindu Hasaranga. With this, India has won all six of the tied T20Is it has played in.
The cricket fraternity couldn’t keep calm after the hectic and crazy super over by Arshdeep Singh and lauded India on their win. They also lauded Pathum Nissanka for his brilliant ton.
