Jasprit Bumrah’s workload management has been a topic of debate since the start of the recently held England Test tour. However, the ace pacer might make himself available for the upcoming home Test series against the West Indies, hinted India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate on Tuesday (September 23).

If the Men in Blue play the Asia Cup 2025 final on September 28, they will have four games in the span of seven days. Considering Bumrah features in all of them, he would have bowled 23 overs in the continental event.

According to Doeschate, this could be adequate preparation for Bumrah ahead of the red-ball West Indies series, starting on October 2 in Ahmedabad.

The Dutchman all but ruled out the idea of resting the pace spearhead in the remaining two Asia Cup Super 4 fixtures against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

“Look, there’s obviously a game tonight (Pakistan vs Sri Lanka) and our game tomorrow night and we’ll have a better understanding of how the table sits. But it’s very unlikely that you go into the last game knowing you’ve qualified. So, I’d say it’s unlikely that he’ll get a rest," ten Doeschate clarified before the Bangladesh clash.

“Also bearing in mind we have a Test match starting on Thursday. So, it’s actually quite good preparation in terms of workload management. He’s probably going to bowl a few overs in all the games and bowl in the region of 25-26 overs with the training and the preparation going into the game, which is a fairly good number the week before a Test," the assistant coach explained.

“So, if we have the luxury to have that option in the last game, we can look at it. But I’d say we’re going to pick our best team for every game. He obviously fits into that picture. But we feel it’s the right amount of work going into the Test match and obviously the importance of this competition as well," he added.

India find themselves on top of the Super 4s points table after the win over Pakistan, with their Net Run Rate currently at +0.689. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side will next face Bangladesh on Wednesday (September 24) in Dubai.
