Pakistan was asked to bat first by India captain Suryakumar Yadav, who won the toss. Hardik Pandya gave India a good start, dismissing Fakhar Zaman for 15 runs. But then Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub (21) added 72 runs for the second wicket.
Farhan played brilliantly well and made 58 in 45 balls with five fours and 3 sixes. Mohammad Nawaz (21) and Faheem Ashraf (20*) propelled Pakistan's total to 171/5 in 20 overs. Shivam Dube picked 2/33 in his 4 overs.
India had a terrific start thanks to Abhishek Sharma, who smashed the first ball from Shaheen Afridi for a six. Abhishek took Afridi on with a pull shot that took a heavy top-edge and flew far over deep square leg for a six after Afridi attempted a short ball against the Indian left-hander.
Shaheen stared back at Abhishek Sharma, who let out some expletives and asked the pacer to continue bowling.

Pakistan appeared to have succumbed to the strategy of playing mental games, and the players' dispute persisted. In the sixth over of the innings, Haris Rauf attempted to speak with Abhishek Sharma. Sharma was not having anything and asked Rauf to continue bowling.
Rauf got heated up and pointed fingers at Abhishek before being forced to go back to his bowling mark.
