Team India are facing Oman in their third and final Group A match of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Friday (September 19).
Although the fixture is a dead-rubber with the Men in Blue already qualifying for the Super 4s, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav provided entertainment at the toss itself.
After winning the toss, Suryakumar opted to bat first but he forgot to give complete information regarding the team combination.
While Surya mentioned Harshit Rana’s name, he couldn’t recall the other change. It was at this point the captain quipped that he has become like his predecessor Rohit Sharma, who has the habit of forgetting team composition as well.
“We are looking to bat first. We have not batted first in this competition and we want to know our depth. Having game time is important going into the Super 4s. We want to continue the good habits we are doing in the first two games and want to continue to do that. It is looking nice and our openers will assess it further. We have two changes - Harshit comes in, one more guy comes in, Oh my God, I have become like Rohit (laughs),” Suryakumar said at the toss.
Notably, India made two changes to their playing XI for the Oman game. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and world No. 1 T20I bowler Varun Chakaravarthy are not playing, and they are replaced by Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh.
India (Playing XI): Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson(w), Suryakumar Yadav(c), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav
