The BCCI selectors on Saturday (October 4) announced India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia.
The Men in Blue are scheduled to tour Australia for a high-voltage white-ball series, comprising three ODIs and five T20Is, starting from October 19 in Perth.
Shubman Gill has replaced Rohit Sharma as captain of the ODI side. Both Rohit and Virat Kohli feature in the squad, having retired from T20Is and Tests to focus solely on the 50-over format.
Hardik Pandya (quadriceps injury) and Rishabh Pant (recovering from foot fracture) weren’t available for selection due to injuries.
Yashasvi Jaiswal features in the side as the reserve opener and Shreyas Iyer has been named the vice-captain.
Iyer and KL Rahul are the two middle-order batters in the squad. Apart from Rahul, Dhruv Jurel is another wicketkeeper-batter in the line-up. Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar are part of the team as designated all-rounders.
Kuldeep Yadav is the premier spinner, whereas Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna are the pace-bowling options. Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the series.
