India’s Shreyas Iyer produced a moment of brilliance to dismiss Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey during the third ODI between two teams at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday (October 25).
During the 34th over of Australia’s innings, Carey attempted to slap Harshit Rana’s short delivery outside off down the ground, but the shot took a top edge and flew toward deep third. Iyer sprinted from backward point, kept his eyes on the ball, and dived full length to complete a spectacular tumbling catch.
In the process, the Indian vice-captain fell awkwardly and was seen holding his ribs in pain, prompting teammates to rush over and check on him. Despite being attended by the physio, he walked back to the dressing room. It remains to be seen if Iyer comes out to bat during India’s chase or not.

Carey’s dismissal on 24 triggered a collapse as Australia slumped from 183/4 to 223/8 in the 44th over. Having won the first two ODIs in Perth and Adelaide, the hosts have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
