Team India members were spotted dining at a popular Indian restaurant in Adelaide. The team's get-together coincided with the Diwali festivities, as the players enjoyed a relaxed evening ahead of the second ODI against Australia.
Taking to social media, Australia’s Channel 7 uploaded photos and videos from the team’s visit to the local restaurant on Henley Beach Road in Torrensville.
For veteran batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, it was a trip to one of their favourite restaurants in what is being seen as their final tour Down Under with the Indian team. Kohli was seen donning a black shirt, grey jeans, and a grey cap, while Rohit sported a simple black T-shirt for the celebratory dinner.
India’s new ODI captain Shubman Gill and his deputy Shreyas Iyer were also seen attending the dinner alongside Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, Nitish Reddy, and others. The Men in Blue arrived together in a team bus from their hotel.
The Gautam Gambhir-led coaching staff was not seen in the footage shared by the Australian broadcaster.
“It’s a pure pleasure hosting them,” said Suman Visanthim, the owner of the restaurant.
“They wanted more of a homestyle than a restaurant-style experience. So, whenever they visit, we try to cook homestyle food,” he added.
Here’s the post:
India lost the rain-marred first ODI by seven wickets at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday (October 19) to concede 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
In the game reduced to 26 overs per side, the visitors recovered from 45/4 to post 136/9 on the board. However, the score was never going to challenge the world champions, especially after their target was revised to 131 using the DLS method.
India and Australia will now square off in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday (October 23). It will be a must win game for the tourists to stay alive in the series.
