The Indian men's cricket team departed from Delhi for Australia on Wednesday (October 15) morning for an upcoming white-ball series. The tour, featuring three ODIs and five T20Is, marks the return of batting stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to international cricket.
The ODI series will get underway on October 19 in Perth, followed by matches in Adelaide and Sydney on October 23 and 25 respectively. The T20I leg will run from October 29 to November 8.
Key players spotted at the Delhi airport included Kohli, Rohit, new ODI captain Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Dhruv Jurel, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Harshit Rana, KL Rahul, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Prasidh Krishna.
Kohli and Rohit’s last appearance for India was during the Champions Trophy 2025 triumph in March. Having retired from T20Is and Tests, both veterans have now become one-format players.
Earlier this month, the BCCI selectors removed the 38-year-old Rohit Sharma from ODI captaincy and handed over the reins to Gill, with the 2027 World Cup firmly in sight.
Rohit and Kohli continue to feature in the 15-member ODI squad as specialist batters, ensuring that experience remains integral to India’s transition.
