India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun on Friday (January 22) heaped praise on Ravindra Jadeja for his brilliant performance with both bat and ball in the recent Test series against Australia, describing him as the “most complete all-rounder” of the Indian Cricket Team.

Before being ruled out of the final Test of the four-Test series, the left-handed batsman scored an important 57 with the bat and stitched a 104-run partnership with Ajinkya Rahane to help India make come back in the Test series by winning the Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne.

In the third Test in Sydney, Jadeja picked four wickets in the first innings and then scored an important 28* off 37 balls in the first innings despite being hit on the thumb by a short ball, which eventually ruled him out of the final Test, to contribute to India’s memorable draw against Australia.

Jadeja's all-round skills impressed his bowling coach the most. He also lauded the veteran off-spinner R Ashwin who also contributed hugely with the ball and bat too, especially in the drawn Sydney Test.

Arun said in a virtual press conference on Friday: “Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have been magnificent. They are number one spinners in the world.”

Praising the all-rounder, he added: “The way he is batting, Jadeja is today the most complete all-rounder we have and it is an exceptional sign for India. His rise as an all-rounder is a huge bonus for the country.”

He also opened up why the “Chinaman” Kuldeep Yadav didn't get to play in the four-Test series in Australia, saying he is aware of the spinner's skills and he will get his chance when his role will come.

Arun further explained, “Kuldeep Yadav is working hard enough. He has been excellent. Horses for courses is the best thing and when he will get a chance to play, he can show what he can do because he is been bowling magnificent and when in India he will play that will be his best form.”

He signed off, “The only chance he got in the T20 game he bowled a fantastic spell. Every player in the team knows that when his role will come it will of great importance for the team.”
