AUS v IND 2020-21: Indian cricket fraternity lauds Team India as they win the Brisbane Test and the series 2-1

AUS v IND 2020-21: Indian cricket fraternity lauds Team India as they win the Brisbane Test and the series 2-1

Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara batted amazingly well to earn a historic win for India.

Rishabh Pant being congratulated by his teammates as his 89* helps India chase down 328 to win | GettyThe Indian team under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane and powered by Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara created history at the Gabba in Brisbane, as they won the fourth Test by 3 wickets and won the Test series 2-1, retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as well.

This was the second consecutive time that India won the Test series in Australia after their famous win in the 2018-19 tour. However, this series win proved to be a more special one, as India was without a dozen of their first-choice players going into this Brisbane Test.

AUS v IND 2020-21: Shubman Gill lauded by the cricket fraternity for his magnificent 91

India began day 5 of the Gabba Test looking to end Australia’s 32-year unbeaten run at the venue. Shubman Gill made his highest Test score of 91, adding 114 runs with Cheteshwar Pujara, who continued to hold one end up.

Ajinkya Rahane came out and blasted a six and a four in his 22-ball 24 runs before Cummins got rid of him, while Lyon got the better of Gill.

Pujara continued his merry ways as Rishabh Pant took the attack to Australia bowlers. Pujara battled for 211 balls, scoring 56 runs while copping a painful blow to his fingers. He scored his slowest fifty in Tests in 196 balls.

Cheteshwar Pujara's 211-ball 55 kept India in the game | GettyHowever, with his wicket falling at the score of 228 runs, it seems India would bring down the shutters and go for a draw, especially as Mayank Agarwal followed soon for 9 runs.

But Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar played out a couple of tight overs before Sundar hit Cummins for a six and a four and then Pant unleashed on Lyon, hitting him for two fours in an over, as 25 runs came off two overs, giving India the driver’s seat.

AUS v IND 2020-21: "Time for Steve Smith to become Test captain; give him chance for redemption," says Ian Healy

Tim Paine buckled under the pressure behind the stumps and in his strategy as well, as he brought Hazlewood back, but it was enough for Pant to steer India to a famous win, despite losing Sundar and Shardul Thakur at the other end.

Pant remained unbeaten on 89 with 9 fours and 1 six off 138 balls, as India won the match by 3 wickets, and was named the Man of the Match as well. Pat Cummins was the best bowler with 4/55 for Australia.

Indian cricket fraternity was elated at the result and took to Twitter to share their joy and we have some of the best tweets for you.
