AUS v IND 2020-21: Indian cricket fraternity reacts as T Natarajan, Washington Sundar make Test debuts in Brisbane

Natarajan and Sundar received Test caps in Brisbane | ScreengrabTeam India on Friday (January 15) handed Test caps to T Natarajan and Washington Sundar in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia at the Gabba.

Left-arm pacer Natarajan, who impressed one and all with his exploits in the white-ball series against Australia, came in place for ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who was struggling with abdominal strain.

Natarajan was handed cap number 300 by bowling coach Bharat Arun ahead of the toss in Brisbane.

On the other hand, spin all-rounder Sundar, who was asked to stay back in Australia after the limited-overs fixtures, made his Test debut at the Gabba as Ravichandran Ashwin couldn’t recover in time from the back spasm.

Sundar received cap number 301 from Ashwin himself and the latter also wished him all the very best.

India cricket fraternity took to Twitter and posted congratulatory messages for both the youngsters on earning maiden Test caps.

India made four changes in their playing XI with injuries to Ravindra Jadeja, Hanuma Vihari, Bumrah and Ashwin.

Apart from Natarajan and Sundar, Shardul Thakur and Mayank Agarwal were included in the line-up for the fourth Test.
