Bumrah, who played a key role in India’s victory in the Boxing Day Test at MCG, picked up the strain during the drawn third Test in Sydney.

According to PTI, Bumrah's scan reports showed a strain and the Indian team management does not want him to aggravate the injury, bearing in mind the forthcoming Test series against England at home.

"Jasprit Bumrah suffered an abdominal strain while fielding in Sydney. He is going to sit out of the Brisbane Test but is expected to be available against England," a BCCI source told PTI.

Team India are already missing the services of Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav owing to injuries and with Bumrah joining them in this list, Mohammed Siraj will be leading the Indian pack attack alongside Navdeep Saini, Shardul Thakur or T Natarajan in the Brisbane Test.

By securing a hard-fought draw in Sydney, India kept the series levelled at 1-1 going into the fourth and final Test, starting January 15 at the Gabba.
