Opener Rohit Sharma completed his 14-day quarantine in Sydney and joined the rest of the Indian Test squad in Melbourne ahead of the New Year’s Test in Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), which starts from January 7 onwards.
This is a big boost to the Indian squad which is already missing the likes of Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, and Virat Kohli and most likely will miss Umesh Yadav for the next Test match. India won the MCG Test by 8 wickets under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane which included some brilliant performances from debutants Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj also.
“Happy birthday,” Rohit Sharma and wife Ritika wish daughter Samaira as she turns two
Now Rohit Sharma’s inclusion in the Test squad brings in the much-needed experience into the batting line up which has Rahane and Pujara in the top 5 with more than 50 Tests to their names. This will also enable India to give a better fight to Australia as they look to take the lead in the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy in SCG, as the series stands 1-1.
BCCI shared a video of Rohit Sharma meeting his Indian teammates and coach Ravi Shastri in Melbourne hotel. “Look who's joined the squad in Melbourne A warm welcome for @ImRo45 as he joins the team,” BCCI captioned the video.
