AUS v IND 2020-21: Cricket fraternity reacts as bowlers put India in a commanding position on Day 1 at MCG

India bowled out Australia for 195 in the first innings of the Boxing Day Test.

Opting to bat first, Australia got off to a disastrous start as the duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin reduced the hosts to 38/3. While Ashwin dismissed Matthew Wade (30) and Steve Smith (0), Bumrah removed Joe Burns for nought.

Afterwards, Marnus Labuschagne (48) and Travis Head (38) added 86 runs for the fourth wicket to steady the ship but debutant Mohammed Siraj got rid of the former to trigger another collapse.

Bumrah (4-56) returned with four wickets to his name while Ashwin (3-35), Siraj (2-40) and Ravindra Jadeja (1-15) also finished with impressive figures as Australia eventually got bowled out for 195 in 72.3 overs.

In reply, India lost Mayank Agarwal in the very first over for a duck but debutant Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara ensured that the tourist end the day without any more hiccup.

While Gill remained unbeaten on 28, Pujara finished with 7 not out as India scored 36 for 1 at stumps on Day 1.

Cricket experts were mighty impressed by Indian bowlers’ display on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test.
