Australia’s injury woes continued ahead of the crucial home Test series, as Australia A medium pacer Harry Conway became the latest to be ruled out of the ongoing pink-ball warm-up match against India due to a concussion on Saturday (December 12) at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Cameron Green was earlier ruled out due to a mild concussion after being hit on the head off a straight drive from Jasprit Bumrah during the warm-up game on Friday.

Conway also suffered a concussion while batting at No. 11 against India in the ongoing pink-ball warm-up game after being hit on the head during the final session on Day 1 at SCG.

He was constantly showered with a barrage of bouncers by the four-pronged Indian pace attack, including Bumrah, and even he was hit on the head twice was but cleared to continue to bat. Later the pacer showed concussion symptoms after his innings ended.

Firstly, Navdeep Saini's short and rising bumper passed through Conway’s helmet grill and then a short ball from Mohammad Siraj hit him on the helmet after the ball ricocheted off his glove and hit him flush and the team physios had to immediately rush to the ground but cleared him to continue batting.

However, Conway seemed to be in serious discomfort after the blow and was finally run out at the end of the session late in the evening of the opening day’s play. During the initial examinations, Conway looked okay to continue for Saturday’s play but he showed concussion symptoms in subsequent tests and has been substituted with Mark Steketee for the final two days of the game.

Noteworthy, Conway becomes the third Australian after Cameron Green and Will Pucovski who have suffered a concussion in the warm-ups before the four-match Test series starting December 17 in Adelaide.
