The third match of the T20I series between Australia and India is expected to witnessed by a full house at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), as New South Wales (NSW) has lifted the crowd capacity restrictions in the state.
NSW, Australia’s most populous state, eased social-distancing restrictions in the eastern state after no new case of COVID-19 was recorded in the last three weeks and it is a great relief for Cricket Australia to invite a crowd for the upcoming T20Is and third Test at SCG.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Wednesday announced that the outdoor stadiums would be allowed to operate at 100 percent capacity from next week, which is great news for the cricket fans, as the two T20Is and one Test of the upcoming series against India are scheduled in Sydney.
Berejiklian stated, “What we've tried to achieve here is a healthy balance of giving people freedom and allowing businesses to flourish, while also maintaining those basic principles of living in a Covid-safe way.”
Australia will play the second and final T20I against India at the 48,000-seat Sydney Cricket Ground on December 6 and 8 and the third Test from January 7.
In October, CA welcomed the move as they could face a A$120 million ($88 million) hole in its 2021 finances due to the bio-security measures and crowd restrictions.
