Indian cricket team returned to action after a lengthy COVID-19 hiatus, with the first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday (November 27).
Australia skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and opted to bat first. At the end of the 6th over in Australia’s innings, a couple of protestors barged into the ground holding ‘NO $1B ADANI LOAN’ signs.

The sight of streakers halting play is not something new, but this one will go down as the most bizarre ‘pitch invasion’ of all time. It took almost 30 seconds before the security personnel walked in, got hold of the protesters and escaped them out.
The front of the protesters’ T-shirt read: “#StopAdani”, while at the back, it said, “Stop Coal. #StopAdani. Take Action.”

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the Stop Adani group recently issued a media release, urging the State Bank of India not to approve a loan of $1 billion Australian dollars to Adani.
Earlier this year, Australia’s Adani coal mine registered a victory over environmental activists. The group announced that the project had offered more than 1500 jobs to people in the state of Queensland.
