Adelaide Oval is all set to remain the venue for the four-Test series opener Test of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India with positive news of the lockdown restrictions being lifted in South Australia from Saturday.

The South Australia government had imposed the six-day lockdown in the Australian state to contain the spread of the deadly COVID-19 – which has been proved to be a successful call as the situation came under control which boosts the chances of having a Day-Night Test in Adelaide.

The state had closed its borders after a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases, which stand at an overall 551 presently.

South Australia’s chief public health officer Nicola Spurrier had stated that the lockdown in the state improved Adelaide’s chances of remaining the venue of the first Test between India and Australia from 17th of December but added there are no guarantees.

Spurrier said during a media conference, “I can’t tell you exactly…I don’t have a crystal ball. But what we are doing now is putting us in the best position possible to be able to have that cricket match.”

She concluded, “The reason we are doing what we are doing, which is pretty drastic…is because we want to get back to the state of having just a few restrictions and to be able to do things like have the cricket.”

Noteworthy, Australia and India will play 3 ODIs and as many as T20Is from 27th of November before locking horns in the four-match Test series in Adelaide on 17th of December.
