AUS v IND 2020-21: Fans outrage on seeing Rohit Sharma bat in nets for MI after exclusion from Australia tour

Rohit Sharma was left out India squads for Australia tour owing to fitness concerns.

Rohit Sharma was left out India squads for Australia tour owing to fitness concerns | MI TwitterThe BCCI announced the Indian team squads for the upcoming full tour of Australia which begins in November 2020 and ends in January 2021. India is scheduled to play 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is and 4 Test matches on the tour and a large squad have been selected keeping the current COVID-19 situation in the mind.

Though the squad saw some new faces, notably that of Varun Chakravarthy in T20Is and Mohammed Siraj getting his maiden Test call-up; one name was visibly missing from all the three squads and that was of vice-captain of the white-ball Indian team, Rohit Sharma.

Rohit has missed the last two IPL 2020 league games for Mumbai Indians due to a hamstring injury and the BCCI's Senior National Selection Committee said that its medical team will continue to monitor his progress. This was a huge concern, given how good Rohit has been for India across formats and his presence was needed to counter a full-strength Australian team in the coming series.

KL Rahul was named the vice-captain in white-ball formats in Rohit’s absence.

However, Rohit and Team India fans were left confused as after the announcement of the India squads for the Australia tour, in which Rohit was left out due to injury, the Mumbai Indians Twitter handle shared a video of Rohit in "full flow" during a net session.

This begs the question why the BCCI decided to not include him in the squads where he was clearly seen practicing in full flow in MI nets. Also, there is ample time still left for him to regain full fitness ahead of the Australia tour.

Fans on Twitter outraged that BCCI had seemingly pulled the trigger on leaving Rohit out a tad too early and that he should be included in the team now that he is fit.
