Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi were seen having a brotherly moment after the presentation ceremony following the third T20I between Afghanistan and India on September 17 in Delhi.
Abhishek Sharma won the Player of the Match for his record century in the game and the Player of the Series for his 229 runs in three games.
After the event, the humorous moment shared by the two southpaws was noted by their fans as a video that had gone viral, showing Sooryavanshi tweaking Abhishek’s hairdo. Sooryavanshi can be seen setting Abhishek’s hair with his fingers, as a young kid does to his big brother.

Abhishek Sharma made 108 in 34 balls with 9 fours and 11 sixes, with his century coming in a record 30 balls, the fastest T20I ton by an Indian. This helped India post 221/7 in 20 overs. In response, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravi Bishnoi took 3 wickets each as Afghanistan was bowled out for 94 runs, and India won by 127 runs. India also won the three-match T20I series 3-0.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was not a part of any game in the Afghanistan series and was left unused on the bench.
Addressing why he was kept out of the playing XI in the post-match press conference after the third T20I, Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of India, expressed that the batter would have to wait for his turn since the players who had been performing consistently in the past would be preferred over him.
“From Vaibhav's point of view, it is again a very clear conversation that he has to wait for his opportunity. We know the kind of talent he has. We know what he can do. But again, someone who has done extremely well over a period of years obviously will always be ahead of someone who has got into the team. Whenever he gets that chance, you will get a longer run as well.
And that is what Indian cricket is all about. We want competition; we want that talent in the dressing room. But sometimes that's how cricket goes. Whether it is a 15-year-old or a 30-year-old, you have to wait for opportunity,” Gambhir said.
In six T20Is, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has scored 193 runs at an average of 32.16 and a strike rate of 189.21, including two fifties.
