Tilak Varma scored 51 off 41 balls while batting at No. 4 in the second T20I.
Batting at No. 4, Tilak smashed 51 off 41 balls to help the visitors post a competitive 152/7 on the board. The stylish left-hander struck 5 fours and 1 six in his knock.
After completing the fifty, Varma pulled off a unique celebration. He raised his bat to acknowledge the applause from the dressing room and then performed a cool dance step.
Following the game, Tilak Varma said the celebration was for India opener Rohit Sharma's 4-year-old daughter Samaira.
In a video shared by the BCCI on X, the southpaw revealed that he shares a strong bond with Samaira.
“It was all about (for) Sammy, Rohit bhai’s daughter because our relation is really good,” said Tilak.
“I had said to her that whenever I will score a century or a fifty, I will do a celebration for her,” Varma added.
Coming to the match, Tilak Varma’s half-century went in vain as the hosts chased down the target of 153 with two wickets in hand and seven deliveries to spare. Wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran starred with the bat for West Indies, smashing 67 off 40 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes.
With this defeat, the Men in Blue went 2-0 down in the five-match T20I series. As a result, the third T20I has now become a must-win game for the visitors to stay alive in the series.
The third T20I is scheduled to be held at the same venue in Guyana on Tuesday (August 8).
