Ganguly mistakenly addressed the interviewer as Virat.
Recently, former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said Rohit was the best candidate to replace Virat as the skipper.
Ganguly's comment came after India suffered a heavy 209-run defeat under Rohit’s leadership against Australia in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final at The Oval.
While Rohit faced flak on social media after the WTC final defeat, Ganguly backed him to produce better results for India going forward, saying that he has won five IPL titles and it is not easy to win the T20 league.
While saying this, Ganguly mistakenly addressed the interviewer as Virat. Even though the former Indian captain corrected himself quickly, the video of his accidental goof up went viral on social media.
Notably, Virat Kohli is yet to win an IPL title. He has been part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore side since the inception of IPL in 2008.
Kohli led RCB from 2013 to 2021 but failed to produce desire results. Under his captaincy, the Bangalore-based franchise reached the IPL final only once in 2016 but failed to lift the coveted trophy.
Kohli stepped down as RCB’s captain after the conclusion of 2021 season and he now plays under the leadership of Faf du Plessis.
