The three-match T20I series is slated to get underway on January 3 in Mumbai.
Official broadcaster for the series, Star Sports, in their latest promo has hinted that Hardik Pandya will be leading the home team versus Sri Lanka.
The promo features Hardik sitting in a stadium, saying that he will not let Sri Lanka win under his reign.
As of today, the BCCI is yet to announce India’s squad for the Sri Lanka T20I series. It is possible that Pandya will be captaining the side in place of Rohit Sharma.

Earlier, it was reported that regular skipper Rohit Sharma's thumb injury might take some more time to heal and he might not feature in the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Hardik, who has shown his leadership skills for Gujarat Titans in the IPL, is seen as a potential T20I captain. In fact, the all-rounder led the national side on the tour of Ireland and New Zealand earlier this year.
