Virat Kohli may no longer be the Indian captain anymore, but his experience in the game and the fact that he reads the game quickly, helped Mohammed Siraj grab the prized wicket of England’s Joe Root during the third ODI being played at Manchester on July 17, 2022.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and surprisingly opted to bowl first despite the record at Old Trafford suggesting that the team batting first has won a majority of times at the venue. India made one change in Mohammed Siraj replacing Jasprit Bumrah in the playing XI.

Hosts England were unchanged from the team that leveled this three-match series at 1-1.

Siraj had removed Bairstow, who tried to nudge it to the leg side but miscued it to fielder Shreyas Iyer at mid-off to give India their first wicket. Siraj struck again in the same over, removing Joe Root for naught on the last ball.

This wicket came courtesy of some planning done by Virat Kohli, who was caught on camera saying something to Siraj on his way back to the bowling mark. Whatever Kohli told Siraj, worked as the Hyderabad bowler dismissed the master England batter for a duck.

In an attempt to block Siraj's searing delivery that shaped in a bit, Root nicked it to India skipper Rohit Sharma at second slip. Siraj, who stuck to a Test line and length despite the change in format, had two opposition batters back in the dugout within just a few minutes.
