ENG v IND 2022: BCCI reveals why Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh were not picked for 3rd ODI

The three-match ODI series stands 1-1.

The third and final ODI between England and India will be played at the Old Trafford ground on Manchester and will decided the fate of the series which stands 1-1. India routed England in the first game at the Oval, while England returned the favor in the second ODI at Lord’s.

Meanwhile, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to put England in to bat, with Jos Buttler revealing that the home side was going in unchanged.

However, Rohit Sharma revealed that Jasprit Bumrah was not picked for this game due to an injury and instead was replaced by Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI. Bumrah had been the best bowler for the Indian side, picking 6/19 in the first ODI and 2 wickets in the second match.

Many wondered why Arshdeep Singh was not picked in place of Bumrah and the BCCI revealed the official reason for both Bumrah and Arshdeep were not available for the third ODI against England.  

BCCI tweeted: “Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of this game owing to back spasms. Arshdeep Singh was not considered for selection as he is yet to fully recover from right abdominal strain.”
