Kranti Goud won the Player of the Match for her three wickets.
India Women and Pakistan Women clashed in an exciting match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on October 5. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Pratika Rawal (31) and Smriti Mandhana (23) gave a good start to India, and Harleen Deol (46) kept one end busy as wickets started to tumble at the other end. Jemimah Rodrigues (32), Deepti Sharma (25), and Richa Ghosh (35*) pushed India’s total to a competitive 247. For Pakistan, Diana Baig took 4/69.
In response, the Indian bowlers, especially Kranti Goud, put immense pressure on Pakistani batters as the ball swung and moved, troubling the batters.
Muneeba Ali was run out controversially, while Goud removed Sadaf Shamas (6) and Aliya Riaz (2) for cheap. Then Sidra Amin (81) and Natalia Pervez (33) added 69 runs for the fourth wicket.
Goud removed Pervez, and Sneh Rana dismissed Amin, taking the life out of Pakistan's chase. Pakistan was bowled out for 159 runs, losing to India Women by 88 runs. Kranti Goud was given the Player of the Match for her 3/20. Deepti Sharma also took three wickets, while Rana took two wickets.
After the match, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan took a dig at the Pakistani team. He stated that it was just another Sunday for the Indian team, and it was a clinical win against Pakistan.
