The ICC World Cup 2023 begins in India on October 5.

Former South African skipper Faf du Plessis picked Virat Kohli to be the leading run-getter in the ICC World Cup 2023. He believes that batter can set the stage on fire because the tournament is being played in India. Shane Watson and Mithali Raj backed young Shubman Gill to be the highest run-getter.
Dale Steyn rooted for Babar Azam to be the leading run-getter in the ICC World Cup 2023. The Pakistan captain will enter the World Cup as the no.1 ranked ODI batter and has been the most consistent one.

Waqar Younis said that Shubman Gill will be the leading run-getter as he feels that he’s in red-hot form and will set the stage on fire. Former England pacer Dominic Cork opted for Rohit Sharma to be the highest run-getter and emulate his performance form the 2019 edition. Shubman Gill was then picked by Piyush Chawla.
However, Gautam Gambhir made a left-field choice in England captain Jos Buttler. While Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, and Rohit Sharma all bat in the top three of their team’s XIs, Buttler will bat at no.5 for England making Gambhir’s choice rather interesting.
