Naseem hit two huge sixes to send Pakistan into Asia Cup 2022 final.
Pakistan won the Asia Cup 2022 super 4s match by 1 wicket against Afghanistan on Wednesday (September 7) in Sharjah to set the final date with Sri Lanka on September 11 in Dubai.
Afghanistan fought till the end while defending below-par 130 runs, and though they were close to the victory, Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah had different plans, as the youngster smashed two back-to-back sixes in the final over to win the thrilling match for the Men in Blue.
After the game, Naseem revealed that he switched bats with Mohammad Hasnain, in the hopes of performing heroics with the bat against Afghanistan on Wednesday. With the remarkable win, Pakistan booked a place in the 2022 final of the Asia Cup alongside Sri Lanka.
Naseem Shah can be heard saying in a video shared by PCB on Twitter after the match: “I told Hasnain, give me your bat as my bat isn’t that good.”
Meanwhile, Hasnain made an entry to the video and opened up about the final over. He said: “He asked me for my bat and I said okay, if you take a single, then give it back to me.”
Well, Naseem says he had the belief that he could win the game as he was working on his batting as well during the training in the nets, which paid off greatly against Afghanistan.
Shah signed off by saying, “The belief was there that I can do it. I knew they would try bowling yorkers and I was ready. When I went to bat, I just wanted to give singles to Asif [Ali] Bhai. But I am confident on my batting as I have been training in nets.”
