Hafeez arrived late at the airport, resulting in the staff not allowing him and his spouse to board the plane.
According to Geo News sources, Hafeez was accompanied by his wife and was supposed to travel to Sydney with the Pakistan team. However, he missed the flight at the airport.
The former Pakistan skipper arrived late at the airport, resulting in the staff not allowing him and his spouse to board the plane. Hafeez and his wife took another flight to Sydney hours later.
Coming to the Test series, Pakistan lost the first two matches in Perth and Melbourne. As a result, the visitors conceded an unassailable 2-0 lead to Australia.
After losing the Boxing Day Test, Hafeez made a bizarre statement, saying that his side may have lost the game but was the better team in Melbourne.
"We played better cricket as a team. I'm proud of that. The way the team had the courage to attack this game in the best possible way. If I sum up the game, the Pakistan team played better than the other team in general," Hafeez said while speaking at the post-match press conference.
"Our batting intent was better, and while bowling, we were hitting the right areas. Yes, we made some mistakes that cost us the game but as a team I believe that there were a lot of positives, enough to win the game but unfortunately at the end we didn't win the game," he added.
Over the years, Pakistan have struggled badly on the tour of Australia. In fact, they have been whitewashed in each of their five previous Test series on Australian soil.
It remains to be seen if Shan Masood-led Pakistan side manages to avoid the clean sweep this time around on the tour Down Under.
