AUS v NZ 2019-20: Australia in commanding position at Perth after dominating display on Day 3

Riding on Starc's 5-fer, Australia bundled out New Zealand for a paltry 166 in the first innings.

Australia had another dominating outing against New Zealand in the ongoing Perth Test as they bundled out the visitors for a paltry 166 on Day 3, securing a massive first innings lead of 325 runs.

Left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc was the wrecker-in-chief for the hosts, taking 5 wickets for 52 runs. Tom Latham (0), Kane Williamson (34), Henry Nicholls (7), Neil Wagner (0) and Colin de Grandhomme (23) were the victims of Starc in the first essay.

Off-spinner also claimed Nathan Lyon also claimed a couple of scalps while Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Marnus Labuschagne chipped in with wicket apiece.

Seasoned campaigner Ross Taylor was the lone warrior with the bat for the Kiwis, scoring 80 off 134 balls.

Batting in the second innings, Australia lost David Warner (19) cheaply but the duo of Joe Burns (53) and Marnus Labuschagne (50) added 87 runs for the second wicket to put the home team in a commanding position.

Even though Tim Southee (4/63) and Neil Wagner (2/4) ran through Australia’s middle-order in the final session, the hosts still ended the day on 167/6, leading New Zealand by 417 runs.
