Ashes 2019: Steve Smith poses in glasses with Jack Leach; England Cricket takes a funny jibe on Twitter

Steve Smith was the leading run scorer of the series with 774 runs.

England was really good in the fifth Ashes Test against archrivals Australia at The Oval in London as they handed a defeat by 135 runs to the visitors. After a thrilling Test match, Steve Smith was seen sporting spectacles while posing with England spinner Jack Leach.

England Cricket came up with a witty comment for Steve Smith as their official Twitter handle tweeted, “An all-time great - and Steve Smith. Congratulations on an incredible #Ashes series @stevesmith49. Leachy loves the glasses.”

After the fifth Test, Steve Smith who was the leading run-scorer of the series with 774 runs said, “I have given it my all while I have been here for the last four-and-a-half months, but I didn’t have much more to give today. I was pretty cooked mentally and physically and I am looking forward to a couple of weeks off and heading back for the Australian summer.” 

The 30-year-old made a fantastic comeback to Test arena and made it to the top of ICC Test Rankings. “It was a nice reception when I walked off, would have been nice to have a few more runs under my belt,” the right-hand batsman said.
