"Sooo dumb," Alyssa Healy and Boria Majumdar have heated argument over WIPL timing

Women’s cricket was on a massive upswing given the success of the 2017 World Cup, 2018 T20 World Cup, and the massively popular 2020 T20 World Cup, which saw hosts Australia and India play the final of the tournament in front of more than 80,000 people in MCG.

Unfortunately, the Coronavirus pandemic has brought all that momentum to a screeching halt and it seems that eves might return to action with league T20 cricket. The Cricket Australia will be hosting the WBBL in November and India Today’s Boria Majumdar reported that BCCI is planning to host the Women’s IPL (WIPL) in November as well.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly says "Women's IPL is very much on"

This news piece shared by Majumdar, who is the Consulting Editor, Sports, India Today Group, led to a heated argument between him and Australia’s Alyssa Healy, who discussed the availability of foreign players if both leagues clashed and which led to Healy exclaiming “sooo dumb”.

Healy had said whether Indian players who have signed WBBL deals will honor it or not if the dates of WIPL and WBBL clashed. Majumdar insisted on saying that Indian players might not get the NOCs if the India-South Africa series happens. He also felt that 3-4 Indian players having WBBL contracts didn’t explain their game and that there were no alternate dates available.

Alyssa Healy finally closed the argument saying, “Yes because my rationale is coming from a current player in this environment who’s sad that we even have to be having this argument. More than happy to close this as I’m seeing overwhelming support for my argument! Cheers mate.”
