India earned their first win in the Super 8s stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 as they defeated Afghanistan in a clinical display in Antigua on June 20.

India had batted first, and thanks to a half-century by Suryakumar Yadav and 32 by Hardik Pandya, it posted 181/8 in 20 overs. Then Afghanistan was bowled out for 134 runs as India won the game by 47 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers with 3/7, while Arshdeep Singh also took three wickets. Kuldeep Yadav also took two wickets in his first outing in the tournament.

India fielding coach T Dilip gave an encouraging speech in the dressing room as he went about naming the winner of the 'best fielder' medal. Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel, and Rishabh Pant were all praised for their fielding efforts during the game, but Kohli was the most astonished by the happenings.

As fielding coach Dilip called out Akshar's name, the all-rounder had a surprised expression on his face, which even Virat reflected, albeit more intensely.

However, Ravindra Jadeja was named the medal winner, and to award the same to the all-rounder, Dilip called upon Team India head coach Rahul Dravid in the middle, leaving Kohli surprised yet again.

After Jadeja got the medal from Dravid, the all-rounder proceeded to lift the India coach in his arms, much to the laughter of the dressing room.

"This medal is very important, I am very happy to get this medal today and I am very very inspired from Mohammad Siraj. Thank you Siraj, cheers!", Jadeja said on winning the medal.
