Virat Kohli made 24 in 24 balls with one six.
India won the toss and chose to bat first against Afghanistan on a pitch that Rohit Sharma termed dry and slowing down as the game progressed.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma opened the innings for India and while Rohit got out early trying to hit some big shots, Virat Kohli settled in for a big knock as he ran twos and threes while tackling the Afghan spinners.
He hit only one boundary in his 24-ball 24 runs knock and it was a six that gave Kohli fans a hit of nostalgia. In the 5th over, Naveen Ul Haq dropped the ball short and Kohli played a flat-batted shot straight down the ground for a six.
The shot reminded fans of the six Kohli had hit against Haris Rauf in the high-tension India v Pakistan match in MCG in the last T20 World Cup.
Even ICC captioned the post: “Kohli goes down the ground, Kohli goes out of the ground.” These were the words uttered by Harsha Bhogle when the India batter hit Rauf for a straight six when India needed 28 runs from 8 balls.
