Amid the anticipation, the BCCI on Monday (September 12) announced India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, slated to be held in Australia.

Skipper Rohit Sharma, vice-captain KL Rahul, and veteran batter Virat Kohli have been picked as the top three. The middle order features the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya.

While Dinesh Karthik is the designated finisher in the line-up, Deepak Hooda has been chosen as the backup floating option while his off-spin may also come in handy.

Akshar Patel has also been included as the spin all-rounder taking the place that would’ve been of now injured Ravindra Jadeja. On the other hand, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin are the two premier spinners in the squad.

The pace department sees the return of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, who join Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to complete a formidable fast bowling contingent.

The seam duo of Mohammad Shami and Deepak Chahar, middle order batter Shreyas Iyer, and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi have been kept on standby.

India will begin their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23.

Meanwhile, the Indian cricket fraternity took to Twitter to share their thoughts on India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2022.
